            Memories for digital cameras

!

Memory is one of the most important elements in a digital camera. While the CCD sensor 'reads' the light and transforms it into Bit, memory has assigned the task to store such data. Recovering data, memory will be then able to recompose the images.
By now the digital cameras that can only rely on their own inner memory (without inserting an additional memory card) are disappearing nowadays.

The greater part of digital cameras sold today are equipped with a connection point in which it is possible just to insert a card of removable memory. They are solid memories with variable capacity: from 8 MB to 8 GB for the Compact Flash, the Secure Digital H, and the Microdrive type. Invented by IBM the licence of the Microdrive has been acquired by Hitachi that has improved the maximum capability up to 8 GB. And in the near future more and more spacious memories are announced.

To have an idea of how many pictures you can take with the main card sizes consider please the table we publish HERE.
Cards can have the same capacity in different bins, according to the mark and the type of camera.

Among the most used there are Compact Flash, XD Picture Card, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, Multimedia and Microdrive. The memory cards can also be used outside the camera in PCMCIA readers, connectable to the computer through the USB doors. Costs therefore allowing you have  the chance to make archives of your pics that will fill least space even holding thousand images.
